Best gig of 2024. And sorry to Deathbed Johnson for cutting your name short, character limitations in the title are a bitch.
Auld friends, dear friends, Christmas spirit and a night of eclectic music upstairs at The Blue Lamp made for a delicious musical soup, of heartfelt folk, mad math rock, some more good chill indie and frenetic neo-jazz. Whit's nae to love?
Deathbed Johnson was a very welcome return of Thomas to Aberdeen, in my second coming of gig photography I followed Lord Leper around to every gig they played, and their farewell gig was bittersweet. Deathbed is a folky reflection on life (as all good folk should be) and it was lovely to see him play again, with a bonus LL track at the end!

Bonnie Mutt I've seen before, but after this gig they jumped right up to the "go see them" list. I bloody love post rock, fast or slow and they just bring their own atmosphere with the energy between the instruments and intensity of their play.

Soft Crystals... I missed their backstory, all originally from Aberdeen, now all in Berlin and came BACK to Aberdeen for a lovely pre-Christmas gig. High quality dreamy indie to get you chilled out before the mad jazz that follows!

AutoHuman brought even more jazz, more punk, more audience participation, more swap-a-band-member, more banging tunes one after the other than ever before. Love these dudes and love taking photos at their gigs.
Here's to 2025, canna wait to get aboot more!
